Researching Southeast Asia - Positionality and Fieldwork

This panel will address the fieldwork and positionality of experienced researchers and PhD students who have conducted field research in Southeast Asia. Panelists will explore how Western scholars conduct field research in Southeast and Southeast Asian scholars studying ethnic minorities and Indigenous peoples in their home country. The discussion will lead to a broader and more complex understanding of colonialities through reflecting on researchers’ field experiences.
